He came up with the whole idea himself. Said, \u201cDad, it\u2019s like a secret home inside the forest.\u201d He sculpted the hedgehog, placed the tiny pinecones, carved that little log with his hands (well, mostly supervised, but still). He poured everything into it.
\nAnd then he came home, eyes red, holding his piece like it was broken glass. \u201cI spent a lot of time sculpting, but no one appreciated it,\u201d he said. The other kids laughed. Even the teacher didn\u2019t say a word. Just moved on.
\nI wanted to march into that school and tell them all, LOOK. LOOK AT THIS. THIS IS ART. But instead, I just hugged him and said, \u201cYou know what? Let\u2019s show it to people who do appreciate creativity.\u201d<\/p>\n

And you wouldn\u2019t believe what happened. People started commenting. Encouraging. One guy from Oregon asked if my son does commissions. Another from the UK said it reminded them of their childhood forest.
\nI didn\u2019t let him sell it, of course. This one stays with us forever. But now he walks a little taller. Because someone did see the magic.
